The curtain rose on the 3rd Chios Festival on August 28th, 2024, with great success, in the presence of the Governor of the North Aegean, Konstantinos Moutzouris. A multitude of visitors from all over Greece, England, and Turkey gathered in Chios at the Hamidiye Mosque to admire the exhibition by the internationally acclaimed artist Kalliopi Lemos. The exhibition is dedicated to the element of the sea, echoing the island’s rich maritime history.
In his brief greeting, the Governor noted that the Chios Festival, organized by the Region for the third consecutive year, is a spiritual and intellectual festival featuring distinguished scholars, with the ultimate goal of becoming an established institution.
The exhibition was introduced by the Director of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Chios, Olga Vassi, followed by the exhibition’s curator, Natasha Lemos. The artist addressed the audience with visible emotion, as this marks the first time she is exhibiting her work in her birthplace, Chios.
